Today’s Featured Cocktail is the Perfect Martini.
I have really perfected this drink. It’s my very favorite. It’s also really easy, and the way I make it is perfectly suited to my taste buds. Here is what you need on hand.
Tanqueray Gin, Dolan Dry Vermouth, Angostura Orange Bitters, a Fresh Orange, a mixer tin, Two Frozen Martini Glasses, a Shot Measure
Recipe to make 2 drinks: In a mixer tin, put 8 shots of gin, one shot of Dolan and a couple shakes of Bitters. Gently rotate the tin without shaking it so you do not bruise the ice, let it rest while you prepare your garnish. To prepare the garnish, take a decent slice of peel off the orange with a sharp knife, making sure not to cut into the flesh of the orange. Then, strain the drinks into the martini glasses and squeeze the peel over the drinks to release the orange oils. Then trim the edges of the peel and divide it into two long thin slices. Carefully roll and stretch the peel so it holds its shape, and drop them into the glasses and serve.
The secret to this cocktail being perfect is first the 8:1 gin to vermouth ratio and then giving the beverage time to cool in the ice. There is not much melt because you are not agitating it, so the ice really just cools. Enjoy!
